BRUSSELS – At the announcement of the strike of the administrative and psycho-social services of the prisons two weeks ago, prisoners in St-Gilles refused to go back to their cells after the walk.
Federal Police came massively, blocking of the entire perimeter and putting surveillance patrols in the popular neighbourhood of St-Gilles in Brussels. Riots then erupted when police intervened inside the prison, rebellious prisoners opposing themselves and fighting back. A helicopter and a water cannon were present.

BRUXELLES – A l’annonce d’une grève des services administratives et psychosociales dans les prisons, il y a deux semaines, des prisonniers de Saint-Gilles ont refusé de réintégrer les cellules. Ils ont barricadé le préau en attendant l’intervention de la police. La Police Fédérale est venue en masse, hélicoptère et autopompe inclus. Des affrontements ont alors eu lieu pour contrer l’intervention de la police. A noter que dans le quartier de Saint-Gilles, à nombreuses endroits, des policiers ont été postés lors des émeutes dans la prison.
