INTERVENTION AT THANASIS PAPAKOSTANDINOU CONCERT IN SOLIDARITY WITH OLGA ECONOMIDOU WHO HAS BEEN IN ISOLATION FOR 39 DAYS NOW IN DIAVATA PRISONS

The intervention was carried out on Sunday 10/6 in Technopoli in Gazi area Athens. About 40 comrades gathered outside at 8pm and shared out thousands of leaflets, along with the text of the comrade herself.Around 10pm there was an intervention which interrupted the concert in order to read the following text:

Olga Economidou, member of the Conspiracy Cells of Fire, is since 4/5/12 in the isolation of the female prisons of Diavata watched 24 hours a day by a camera inside her cell. The reason is her refusal to accept cavity search, which despite the machines in all prisons, it is demanded that the new coming prisoners to strip (from the female prisoners a vaginal search is also demanded). A procedure which aims at bending their dignity and which the members of the Conspiracy Cells of Fire have clarified they will refuse every time.

The attitude of the screws is one more time in complete line with the orders of the cops and their political superiors. Together they try to bend the fighting prisoners with every way, even when their correctional code does not allow them too. (The longest a prisoner is allowed to stay in an isolation regime is at most 10 continuous days). Attempts which clearly are pointless. More than a month later Olga remains in isolation and after her unyielding attitude has managed to cover the camera which is in her cell.
