Se han producido 16 cortes en el octavo día de huelga
Ayer día 29 de mayo, a eso de las 8:30 de la mañana, cortaron la A-66 a la altura de El Montico con neumáticos, durante aproximadamente unas dos horas, hasta que se permitió reestablecer el tráfico. También se produjeron cortes en la A-8 (Carreño).
13:00- Se corta la A -66 (Y Griega) a la altura de la gasolinera de El Robledo en ambos sentidos Oviedo-Gijón, hasta las 15:00. En dicho corte hubo cierta tensión debido a una coche intentó pasar la barricada tras otro coche, al cual los mineros habían permitido el paso por tener carácter de urgencia. Los mineros le impideron el paso y le obligaron a dar marcha atrás porque iban a encender los neumáticos.

5 de Junio – 5 de Julio / Mes de activades contra Aratirí y todos lo megaproyectos.
Estimados y estimadas:
Vamos a tomar un mes a partir del día 5 de Junio (día internacional del medio ambiente) para realizar diferentes actividades contra Aratirí y todos los megaproyectos. Vamos a comenzar con una marcha el día 5 de Junio con la idea de también finalizar con una marcha el día 5 de Julio. En el medio se van a realizar diferentes actividades de las cuales pronto incluiremos los detalles en esta página.
A no dejarse estar, a no quedarse quieto. Mostrarse, hacerse visible, hacerse sentir es la forma de ganar esta lucha.
Invitamos a los/as interesados/as a coordinar las actividades a acercarse a las reuniones todos los jueves a las 19:30 hs. en La Solidaria.
¡Fuera Aratirí y todos los proyectos del capital!

| On May 24, 2012 the Vancouver Branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum hosted a luncheon meeting at the Four Season’s Hotel in Vancouver focusing on Compliance Energy Corp’s proposed Raven Coal Mine. The site for this proposed mine is in unceded Pentlach Territory on Vancouver Island, also known as the Comox Valley.The lemon meringue was barely finished with keynote speaker and Compliance Energy Corp. CEO John Tapics mentioning that there was social opposition to Raven Coal, when he and the 100 person conference were abruptly interrupted by a half dozen people who unleashed decaying herring upon them. A chaotic stench and nauseating shower of fermented fish engulfed the room. Herring are only one of the species that will be negatively effected by the mining development. (Contrary to mass media reports it was herring, not excrement) |
Simultaneously, coal tumbled onto the ground. The wondrous blend created by insurgent passion was too overwhelming for the industrial capital bosses to handle. People yelled unyielding opposition while pamphlets were strewn in the air to assert the point, “It has Begun! No Compliance! No Compromise! No Coal!”
Those attending had no choice but to step in the mix of herring and coal as they quickly exited, the conference being effectively shut down. The coal, the herring, what a sight, what a smell: never to be whipped, chained, or owned into submission. A great force used to crash the daydreams and sick fantasies of industrial development.
No one was captured or injured. The conference and the hotel were shut down.
This action is a small contribution to the ongoing struggle against the Raven Coal Mine. We are through with dialogue. We do not except the false temptation of economic development. We will not poison ourselves, each other or the earth to survive!

Post G-8 Wrap up: How the US Sold Africa to Multinationals Like Monsanto, Cargill, DuPont, PepsiCo and Others

Driving through Ngong Hills, not far from Nairobi, Kenya, the corn on one side of the road is stunted and diseased. The farmer will not harvest a crop this year. On the other side of the road, the farmer gave up growing corn and erected a greenhouse, probably for growing a high-value crop like tomatoes. Though it’s an expensive investment, agriculture consultants now recommend them. Just up the road, at a home run by Kenya Children of Hope, an organization that helps rehabilitate street children and reunite them with their families, one finds another failed corn crop and another greenhouse. The director, Charity, is frustrated because the two acres must feed the rescued children and earn money for the organization. After two tomato crops failed in the new greenhouse, her consultant recommended using a banned, toxic pesticide called carbofuran.
