What is Left? Nihilism vs. Socialism
The history of socialism is a noble tradition. It has been an epithet used by tyrants to curse their enemies and a flag by which working people transformed their workplace and the societies that they lived in. Almost every story we hear that involves someone standing up to authority involves socialism. It is the valiant story of individuals and groups who attempted to transform the status quo of their time against overwhelming odds. Socialism has changed peoples’ expectations of rights, fairness, work, and the kind of leadership they should expect.

Leon Czolgosz
Leon Czolgosz, the son of Polish-Russian immigrants, was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1873. His parents had six other children and in 1881 it was decided to move to a small farm near Cleveland in 1881. Czolgosz found work in a wire mill but in 1898 he suffered a mental breakdown and returned to the family farm.

El Antimilitarismo Anarquista
Los anarquistas son eminentemente activos en el sentido antimilitarista. El antimilitarismo constituye para el anarquismo un elemento esencial de su concepción antiestatal. Pero se conexiona también con su interpretación metódica y táctica de la revolución social y de la nueva creación de la sociedad.
Los anarquistas ven en la actual forma social de organización de la violencia, cuya expresión sistemática es el Estado. Este sólo puede existir mediante el militarismo, que, por su parte, representa la violencia metódicamente organizada. El militarismo tiene dos puntos de apoyo principal: la autoesclavización espiritual y sumisión obediente del individuo a la autoridad, como la producción de útiles -armas, municiones, cuarteles, provisiones de boca y de su uso de los soldados, sin lo cual el militarismo no puede funcionar por la clase obrera. Por ese trabajo para el militarismo, el militarismo se mantiene.
