Communiqué on the arrests of 25th June (from anarchists in Bologna)
On 25th June, five months after the searches and remands in custody that had involved 54 people all over Italy, a comrade from Bologna is put under house arrest with all related restrictions (she can’t speak or write with people who don’t live in her house). The material she had been seized during the search of 26th January was used by the prosecutor in Turin to press the charges of violent disorder and aggravated damages relating to the day of resistance on 3rd July in Ramatas.
On 3rd July 2011 many of us decided to be in the woods of the Susa valley in order to attack the construction yard set up in the area previously occupied by the free republic of the Maddalena. We decided to reach the fences and assault the yard.
It was a day of very intense struggle, which concluded with the arrest of four people and which saw hundreds of people ready to defend a wonderful territory from the cops’ violence alongside those who live there.
We were in those woods not as ‘Sunday’s fighters’ – as journalists labelled us in the following days – but as individuals who, in the valley and in the cities, are crushed every day by an insane machine of production and consumerism, and every day struggle against it.
We were in those woods to defend a territory as well as all territories we live in every day, taken off from the people and given to those who produce wealth for their pockets.
We were back in the valley many times and many times we took it to our cities so as to make our struggle of elsewhere a point of strength for those who haven’t surrendered in the Susa valley for years.
The tenacity of the men and women who resist on those mountains and with whom we share paths, dreams and struggles is the fire that continues to burn in our hearts and warms up the cells and houses where our comrades and friends are being confined.
